Not the Time for Blame (1/17/2002)
by Dean Hartwell
So far, throughout the
disclosures of Enron's woes, President Bush has, for the most part, refrained
from blaming the Democrats for investigating the matter. This caution is a
pleasant turnaround from the days before the presidential election when he
insisted "someone" (read: Democrats) were behind the revelation that
he had gotten a driving-under-the-influence conviction.
I sincerely hope we can get through this situation without the usual
name-calling that takes place when something appears to be a scandal.
